New Yorkers Beware!

The Amish are Attacking! A deadly force of 46 nonmilitant guerrilla fighters from the Conservative Corps of VA is expected to arrive in the Big Apple tommorrow sometime before nightfull. The group is expected to be infiltrating the subways and heavily populated areas above ground. Be on the lookout for gauzy headgear or dark clothing. Members of this group are typically armed with deadly JFU's, a weapon they do not hesitate to deploy without warning.

Yes we are really and truly going to NYC tommorrow. 29 people from our church and the rest from nearby Mennonite churches. I'm hoping the JFU's won't be the main thrust of our campaign, as I don't have much faith in their effectiveness if they are merely thrust in people's faces without explanation or without relationship of some kind. Do pray for us. I hope to give a report when we return.

Russian State Chorus

I just heard them! Wow! What an incredible group. I have loved Russian Choral Music for a while, but this is the first time I've heard a group live. They were everything a Russian choral group ought to be. The bass...ooooooh, incredible!! I don't know how these guys do it. And the tenor...simply heavenly! The altos were altogether HUGE! And the sopranos, wow, totally phenomenal! You get the picture. They started off with two selections from Rachmaninov's Vespers, both favorites of mine. The remainder of the program was new for me, but the music totally breathtaking. I could go on and on...

Musical experiences like this are such an incredible blessing from God. My life would be so much poorer without them. The gift of music...so incredible. My heart is full.

mennodiscuss

Hey people. The latest and greatest in the Mennonite Cyber World is mennodiscuss. I just joined.

Dave Gingerich

How many of you know Dave Gingerich? Dave was one of my favorite people at FB. He is probably most people's favorite at FB, for that matter. His wife Roz died only last May, and it's been rough, very rough, for him and his family. But it looks like he's back to some of his old stunts. Check out his latest creation. You'll love it.

This is wild!

Folks, I am experiencing something tonight which is way too incredible! I just downloaded Microsoft's Virtual PC software and installed it on my computer. Now I'm installing Server 2003 on my laptop and I'm surfing the web at the same time. I'm going to install another copy of Server 2003 as soon as that one's done, so I'll have a whole virtual network, complete with 2 servers and an XP computer, all on my laptop! It's the ideal tool for studying networking. Man, this is just shakin' my world! Mom even thinks its great stuff!! Here's a screenshot.

Too much web?

I'm sick of the internet.

I've been spending lots of time lately the web. Sitting in front of a stupid computer screen. There's so much to do on it. Well, basically I do two things. I read news and I study tech stuff, like web design and whatnot. News would include things like world and national news, but primarily it is keeping up with people's blogs. I am just discovering the huge world of blogs out there. It is simply tremendous how many really cool and interesting things people are putting on their sites. I could spend dayz...

But I am hating it more and more. I am hating all the TIME it is taking. All this time...and where did it go? The thing that is bothering me the most about this is that it feels so antisocial. When I'm on the computer I'm not engaging in relationships with people. Perhaps I am reading an update from a good friend. Perhaps I do leave a comment now and then. But that is so entirely different than a real face-to- face conversation with a flesh and blood person. I think if I would do this long enough my relational skills would deterioriate. I would turn into some kind of zombie, a supergeek. I don't want that at all!

Someday I will write a post on long-distance relationships vs. local relationships. But now I am GETTING OFF THIS COMPUTER!! Gotta get some deepbrew.

Am Going Crazy.. exam 70-270

Studying for my first Microsoft exam, which is happening tommorrow at 2:30. I don't feel nearly ready! If I make it through only seven of these, I'll be a card-carrying MCSE! (microsoft certified systems engineer). For now, I'm just praying I'll pass one. That will be a miracle.
